2,328 restaurants permanently closed in US in November, the highest number in 2021. New restaurant openings dropped from 1,112 in September to 1068. 

Boston Market closed 26 of their 335 locations, and Hooters closed 24 of their 256 locations.

In Canada restaurant closings were up as well (248 vs 206).  There were 85 new restaurant openings, 15 of which were pizza restaurants.

Of note, 89% of the 8,769 new restaurant openings over the past six months in Canada & US have been by independents (less than 5 locations).
